Life calls people to the Pacific Northwest—sometimes it’s work or family, other times it’s the memory of a visit that won’t fade. Maybe the northwest is calling you and you just need to find the right walls and roof to call your own. If this is a time of life when fresh, simple, and ready-to-go are the words you need to hear about your home, we think you should keep reading. It’s lovely to slow down when you pass a Victorian and marvel at the beauty of the 5-tone paint job and intricate scrollwork, it’s all pretty dreamy, but the dedicated maintenance required is perhaps not the dream right now. If the dream—the one that fits into real life today—is something more like an up-to-date, clean-cut, move-in-ready, air-conditioned, let-the-dog-off-the-leash home with a private suite for you, and enough bedrooms and bathrooms to go around when family and friends come to town, we might have the one you’re looking for.

Newly built in 2020 and home to just one family, this is the ideal spot if life and work take you to Olympia, JBLM, or anywhere in between. This corner lot in Lacey offers a 3-car attached garage and a spacious, fully fenced back yard for a lifestyle that welcomes friends, encourages bbqs and gets you into the outdoors. The homeowners say it’s a perfect birthday party yard, with room for running around, setting up yard games, and getting the grill going too. The open living space holds the living room, dining, and kitchen with its quartz waterfall island counter and a full set of appliances. Sliding glass doors open from the dining area to the pergola covered patio and a convenient half bath just inside the front door is easy to keep spic-and-span for friends who drop by. An open staircase leads to the full bath and 4 bedrooms, including the primary suite with its private ¾ bath and walk-in closet. The laundry’s up there too; behind every door you’ll find good news as one more thing you need is right there where it ought to be.

Reach groceries, schools, parks, the local coffee shop and craft brewery, golf, trails and saltwater beaches all within 10 minutes of home. Extend the time to 15 minutes and you can find yourself arriving at JBLM or in Olympia with its farmers market, children’s museum, capitol building, marina, bakeries, shops, and pubs. Visit our location section following the home tour to learn more about all the places you can get to from your door. We even calculated the distance and driving time to make it easy to imagine how this home fits into the wider community.

Entry Hall & Half Bath

Just as soon as you pull up, this house communicates that it’s ready and set to become yours. Tidy landscaped beds bring a spot of color and a bit of life and cheer to the entry. They’ve been well cared for, just like what’s to come. The paved driveway is ready for your vehicles, the covered porch is ready for your rain boots (we’ll need them soon enough), and the 3-car garage is ready for your vehicles, bicycles, camping gear, woodworking supplies, and all that good stuff (but we’ll get to that after a while). The entry even lets you know it’s ready for the weather; a storm door includes a screen that can be pulled up or down for airflow or privacy. For now, wipe those shoes, kick off your sandals, and step into the front hall.

Lacey New Build Half Bath.jpg

A very convenient half bath waits on your right. With two more baths upstairs, this is the one friends can head to on movie nights, the one for dinner guests, for people who pop-by unexpectedly (and they never need to know what state the “family” bathrooms are in—we’re not saying you don’t keep a clean bathroom, we’re just saying you can get away with it once in a while!). Just past the staircase you’ll find a coat closet (with crawlspace access under the floor) for tucking away shoes, jackets, bags, hats, umbrellas, or whatever else you carry in and out.

Living Room

Lacey New Build Open Living Space.jpg

Head straight down the hall to get to know the open living space complete with a living room, dining area, and kitchen. The living room is brightened by recessed lighting and a large west-facing window overlooking the fenced backyard. You’ll see stringless blinds (these pull down and push up quite smoothly) here and throughout the house. This is the room for a cozy couch, easy chair, coffee table, floor lamps, a soft rug, puzzles, games, books, and side tables so your evening snack is always within reach. Spacious enough for hosting, and comfortable as can be for everyday life, this room is laid with easy-to-clean laminate flooring, and painted in neutral tones that will work well with whatever you bring along.

We’re moving into fall here so it’ll be a little while until you appreciate it, but the homeowners installed air-conditioning to keep the house comfortable all year long. We’re known for rain here, but the summers do get hot enough to make people grateful for a cooling system. It’ll be ready when you need it.

Kitchen & Dining

Lacey New Build Kitchen.jpg

This home was completed in January 2020, so it’s still fresh and new, but not only that, it’s been improved by the family calling it home. They added quartz counters in the kitchen and upstairs bathrooms, added hardware to the cabinets for a more finished look, and selected a sleek waterfall counter for the kitchen island. The island not only offers a spot to pull up a stool for breakfast, it’s also built with additional drawers and cabinets for more kitchen storage. Stick your friends over there while you’re cooking, and give them a job to do. Why not? There’s room.

The tile backsplash is glossy and classic and the undermount sink makes wiping the countertop smooth and easy. The room is complete with a full set of appliances, and you’ll notice the convenient pantry to the right of the refrigerator. A pantry is a definite plus (those evening snacks we talked about have to live somewhere!). Take a cue from the current homeowners and set-up a beverage cart for fun happy hours with friends, or tea parties, or a personal lemonade stand—your beverage style is totally up to you.

The dining area is living an alternate life as a play area right now, and with the kitchen island that works just fine! If you plan on setting up your heirloom oak table with an extra leaf to pull out for holiday dinners, this room will welcome that too. Just imagine it all lit up with candlesticks flickering over the linens, and your favorite dishes on the table. What we like about this room is it’s flexible. It meets you where your life is now and lets you make it work. Whether you set up a table for two or a banquet for ten, we think you’ll like having the sliding glass door right there. It’s especially convenient if you’re cooking out on the patio, or need to let pets in and out.

When you’ve finished exploring the main floor, take the stairs in the front hall up to the second floor where you’ll find all four bedrooms including the primary suite. The suite is fresh and calm with clean finishes. Stringless blinds are ready in the west-facing window and air conditioning keeps even the upstairs rooms comfortable in the summer months.

The private 3/4 bath includes a quartz-topped vanity with an undermount sink, tile backsplash, and plenty of cupboards and drawers. The walk-in closet is set with wire shelving to help keep clothes organized.

For additional storage, look to the large linen closet down the hall.

3 Additional Bedrooms

Lacey New Build Guest Bedroom.jpg

The three additional bedrooms can be just that: bedrooms for family, housemates, or guests. But you could also make excellent use of some of these rooms for a home office, playroom, exercise area, studio, or den. With four altogether, you might find yourself with room for creativity. These three rooms share easy access to the full bath in the hall. You’ll find attic access in the nursery with its north window, while the two front bedrooms face east onto Mahogany Street.

Full Bath

The full bath is easy to reach from the three bedrooms sharing this end of the hall. Its quartz vanity top matches the counter in the private bath, but here you’ll find a bathtub with a shower. A good-sized linen closet is ready for towels, sheets, and back-up shampoo bottles just across the hall.

Laundry Room

Last, but I wouldn’t say least, on the tour of the second floor is the laundry room. Although we’re visiting it last, you’ll find it first on the left, just past the bookshelf at the top of the stairs. As you can see, there’s plenty of room for a full-sized washer and dryer set with shelving for detergents and other supplies above. Just don’t get too attached to this particular set as they’ll be moving along with the homeowners.

Garage & Grounds

Lacey New Build 3 Car Garage.jpg

This four-bedroom Lacey home is set on a 5,640 square foot corner lot with a fully-fenced back yard and a 3-car attached garage. With the paved driveway in addition to the garage, you’ll find plenty of space to park and still have room to stow seasonal items, and maybe set up a workbench too.

The back yard offers room to roam, to garden, to party, to grill, and to relax. Take a cue from the sellers and set up some patio furniture for lounging or dining under the pergola. This spot can be your outdoor dining room in summer, a spot to take a breather and watch the sunset at the end of the day. For now, the yard is mostly low-maintenance lawn space, but if raised beds, flower gardens, or blossoming trees are part of your vision, this lot can hold all of that, and still offer some room to run around and play.
