“Every window has a view to the yard or the tall trees beyond and it feels like a little patch of woods while still being accessible to everything! ”
Home: A quick look at this rambler shows the brand new roof, the large lot with its fenced back yard, the practical simplicity of the single-level layout and an attached garage. Look closer and the house will show you original oak hardwood floors, a big front window, French doors to the covered patio and a hallway full of closet storage. Give it a little more time and you’ll find a gas furnace new in 2021, the 2018 electrical panel and updated wiring throughout. The family room—2 steps down from the open living area—has easy access to a ½ bath.
In spring the rhodies, lilacs and dogwood bloom. In summer there’s plenty of shade out back. All year long the waterfront town of Steilacoom is only 5 minutes away with a beach park, cafes, and historic homes. Set on a street ending in a cul-de-sac, this Lakewood home is surrounded by parks, lakes and shoreline, with JBLM just over 4 miles away for a short commute.
“On a sunny day, we love the little park In Steilacoom, which has spectacular views over the water—and then lunch at Bair, of course!”

Home Highlight - A Deeper Look at What Makes this House Home

Meet the Neighborhood - Lakewood & Steilacoom
Sunnyside Park in Steilacoom faces west for sunshine long into the afternoon. Park for $10 and spend the whole day at the beach.
This home is set in Lakewood near the waterfront town of Steilacoom (the first incorporated town or city in Washington State!). Just 5 minutes up the road, Steilacoom is where you’ll find yourself meeting friends for a milkshake or from-scratch breakfast at The Bair. Catch the ferry to Ketron or Anderson Island, or pack a picnic and spend the afternoon at sandy Sunnyside Beach Park with its 1,400 feet of shoreline. This homey, historic, west-facing town is also the perfect place to go for sunset views.
Visit The Bair for breakfast, lunch, and soda fountain favorites. The interior is like a museum with much of the old pharmacy intact.
Less than 15 minutes aawy is Chambers Bay. Host of the 2015 Men’s US Open, it’s a public course accompanied by Chambers Creek Regional Park. The park includes over 2 miles of waterfront and a 3.25 mile loop trail with views across the course to the Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
If you enjoy public parks, beaches, trails, golf, boating, and off-leash areas, you’ve come to the right place. Steilacoom Lake, Gravelly Lake, and American Lake border the area to the south and east, with the southern reach of the Salish Sea to the west, so there’s no shortage of water and beaches, salty or fresh. There’s even a 5-acre beach park and a public boat launch nearby at American Lake. Fort Steilacoom Park offers a huge off-leash park, a lake loop trail, playground, and acres of exploring. Chambers Bay Golf Course, host of the 2015 US Open, is also home to a waterfront park, a 3.25 mile loop trail with Olympic Mountain views, a playground, off-leash park, big playfield perfect for frisbee and kite-flying, access to the rocky shoreline for beach walks, and the Chambers Bay Grill.
A visit to Lakewold Gardens—a 10-acre garden estate just a little over two miles down the road—is another way to spend time out among green and growing things. It’s also a good source of inspiration for your garden at home. Lakewold hosts seasonal events like their Mother’s Day Stroll, All Hallows’ Eve activities, Yuletide Fest, and Summer Garden Gala.
We recommend becoming a regular at Hess Bakery & Deli in European Square. Fresh-baked pretzels just 4 miles from 10102 114th St SW.
The Lakewood Towne Center mall is less than 10 minutes away for shopping, groceries, and dining out. The Original House of Donuts (founded in 1959) and Hess Bakery & Deli—an authentic German market that’s been family-owned and operated since 1968—are local favorites where you can become a regular.
Commuting to Joint Base Lewis-McChord? The Lewis Main Liberty Gate is just a 15 minute drive from here.
“We love to go to Hess Deli and Bakery in Lakewood. This tiny German grocery is a gem, with all the fun German specialties, including an amazing deli counter. And we never miss any opportunity to stop at the café next-door to have a giant piece of cake!”
Along with trails, a playground, sports fields, and a lake loop path, Fort Steilacoom Park holds a big, off-leash dog park just a 4-minute drive from home.
