Sold - Better Than New

We’re really going to miss the backyard, all the updates since we moved in, and how warm and inviting the house is.
— Homeowners

Home: If you’re looking for a home that’s fresh and easy, a place that feels clean and new—with more than the obligatory rectangle of sod laid out and called a garden—this could be the place for you. If you’re not up for projects and taking on updates, but you also don’t want to live in a flip, this could be the home you’re looking for. You might feel it when you walk in—we hope you do, we think you might—this house wasn’t bought as a stepping stone or investment; people belonged here. Maybe you could too.

Just minutes from downtown Puyallup and the Sounder train, this fully renovated home is better than new. Extensive updates starting in 2024 include a new roof, interior and exterior paint, all new appliances, flooring, trim, solid Craftsman-style doors, a complete kitchen renovation and more. The eat-in kitchen features quartz counters, soft-close cabinets, an induction stove and a coffee bar with a beverage cooler. Sit by the gas fireplace in the vaulted ceiling living room, read by the bay window and take the open staircase to the bedrooms above. Settle in the primary suite with its private bath and walk-in closet. Host parties beside the honeysuckle trellis on the deck in the big, fenced yard where lilacs, dogwood and a green lawn grow.

Updates Since 2024:

What sold it for us is that the house feels bigger than it is when you get inside.

What’s great about this location is the proximity to the Sounder train to get to Seattle, being walking distance to Sam Peach park, the walkable neighborhood, and how close it is to downtown Puyallup.
— Homeowners

Community: When the homeowners talk about this location, they talk about how sweet it is to walk through the neighborhood to nearby Sam Peach Park, how at home they’ve felt here, and the beauty of the local streets with all the trees soon to change color for fall. They’ve loved taking the drive to Fika when they have time for a nice, relaxed cup of coffee with pastries, or just heading over to Happy Donuts and Lick Homemade Ice Cream downtown for local treats.

You can reach the Puyallup Farmers’ Market, pubs, coffee shops, and Pioneer Park in under 10 minutes from here. And when you need to get out of town, the Puyallup Sounder Station—with routes from Lakewood to Seattle—is just over 1.5 miles away. Plus, it’s only a 20 minute drive to downtown Tacoma for the art and history museum, glass museum, breweries, and concerts. But we’ve heard that with weekly events at the fairgrounds and all the community life going on, it’s pretty hard to run out of things to do here in Puyallup.

Living in a city surrounded by farmland certainly has its perks. Fields of springtime lupine, local pumpkin patches, u-pick berry fields, and roadside farmstands are just a few.

Image from City of Puyallup - Sam Peach Park’s playground, ball field, and walking track are less than a mile from 933 23rd St NW.

Puyallup is a town with a Main Street culture, surrounded by farms, and tucked away from the bigger cities nearby. Major grocery stores like Fred Meyer and the Puyallup Farmers’ Market are under 10 minutes away, and downtown Puyallup dining is even closer, so a meal is never out of reach. Essential services like Police and Fire are under 2 miles away, and MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital is a 12 minute drive.

Head to downtown Puyallup for the Saturday Farmers Market, for annual parades and events like the Daffodil Festival and Meeker Days with its food trucks, artisans, and activities for all ages. Or, go downtown any old day of the week to meet friends at locally owned pubs, donut shops, and cafes. Make yourself at home just outside of town at Farm 12 and Fika too. Sit down for a Farm 12 brunch, or visit Fika for coffee and pastries in a garden setting right beside a lupine field that bursts into bloom in spring.

For fun nearby we love going to the fair, and the farmers market at Pioneer Park.

We can’t write about Puyallup without the State Fair (called the Puyallup Fair all the years we were growing up, after all). The fairgrounds are just 10 minutes away, and along with the big State Fair at the end of August into September, the fairgrounds are home to dog shows, automobile shows, the Taste of the NW, swap meets, a Victorian Christmas Festival, and much more.

We hope you’ll be able to settle in and enjoy Puyallup, but if you need a day out in the city, the Puyallup Station with its Sounder services and route from Lakewood to Seattle is less than 2 miles from your door. Or you can reach museums, breweries, and happy hour in downtown Tacoma under 10 miles away, just about 20 minutes by car.

Wicked Pie is just 5 minutes from home in downtown Puyallup.

Meet a friend at Fika at Farm 12 for coffee, cake, pastries, and sandwiches. Sit on the garden patio in summer, or in their spacious, high-ceilinged cafe year round.

If you’re really looking for a change of scene, it only takes an hour and 20 minutes to reach Mount Rainier National Park. People travel across the world to get up close with this mountain and its beautiful wilderness areas. You can leave on a Saturday morning, choose a trail, and picnic on the mountainside by lunch. To get outdoors even closer to home embark on the Foothills Trail, a 21-mile trail for hikers and cyclists.

Now that you’ve seen a preview, let's start at the beginning and see it all. The front door opens from the covered front porch to this entry area where an open staircase leads up to the full bath and the 3 bedrooms, including the primary suite. But for now, start with a visit to the living room.

Living Room

Our favorite rooms are the living room for natural light and high ceilings, and the back bedroom for morning light and view of the backyard and trees.
— Homeowners

The open living and dining space features the new flooring, trim, blinds, lighting, and fresh paint found throughout the home. The gas fireplace, bay window, and vaulted ceiling make this a favorite room of the house.

Set up a dining area by the window overlooking the back yard. With new lighting, new blinds, new flooring, and fresh paint, there's nothing left to do but sit and enjoy a meal.

Pull a seat up to the breakfast bar for a quick bite or just to keep the cook company.

Kitchen Lounge - Coffee Bar

A lounge area perfect for another dining spot or a cozy family room adjoins the kitchen with sliding glass doors that open to the deck and fenced back yard. The kitchen renovation included the addition of this coffee/beverage bar with matching quartz countertop and cabinetry and the beverage cooler with a soft-close door and special settings for a variety of beverages.

Laundry Room

A doorway by the coffee bar opens to the laundry room with a new washer and dryer set. Take the door from the laundry room into the attached, 2-car garage.

Half Bath

This convenient, main floor half bath is tucked back beside the laundry area for privacy.

2nd Floor Primary Suite

The comfortable primary suite overlooks the front yard and neighborhood and features fresh paint, new lighting, blinds, and flooring as throughout the home.

This private 3/4 bath attached to the primary suite features fresh paint, new flooring, trim, light fixtures, and shower head. A door in the private bath opens to the primary suite's walk-in closet.

2nd & 3rd Bedrooms

Just across the landing this updated 2nd bedroom features a new closet organizer. Both back bedrooms fill with natural light each morning through their east-facing windows overlooking the fenced yard.

Full Bath

The updated full bath is right outside the bedrooms on the 2nd floor landing. The full bath has new lighting, paint, and a new shower head in addition to recent updates by the previous homeowners.

Garage & Grounds

Along with parking spaces, the attached, 2-car garage offers built-in shelving, cabinets, a workbench, and pegboard. You'll also find a chest freezer, an additional freezer-fridge, and the water heater, furnace, and electrical panel in here for easy access.

We’ve appreciated the spacious deck, big open grassy area for playing and entertaining, the shed for lawn tool storage, and the built-in shelving and tool bench in the garage.
— Homeowners

This 1,665 sq ft house (+ the 538 sq ft garage) is set on a 9,138 sq ft lot in a neighborhood with sidewalks and curbed streets near Puyallup’s farmland, parks, downtown, and fairgrounds.

A honeysuckle grows on the trellis beside the big, back deck. Don't forget there's a spot ready and wired for a hot tub out here. The homeowners also installed a sprinkler system for easier care of this beautiful, fully-fenced back yard.

A well-tended garden shed stands in the back corner of the yard. Store yard tools and gardening supplies back here to leave more space in the garage.

Mature trees, shrubs, and hedges border the spacious lawn. Plantings include dogwood and rhododendron for blossoms in spring and fall color too. There's plenty of room to relax, play, and even create new garden beds.

This updated, turnkey house, with a big backyard, open living space, and beautiful kitchen is ready and eagerly waiting to be called home.
