Built Green in 2005 and distinguished by its warm character, bamboo and fir floors, exposed beams, new appliances and 2-car garage. Don’t let that garage mention slip by. Two secure, easily accessible parking spots in the midst of the city are nothing to sneeze at. This home also has considerable storage (you’ll understand their value if you’ve tried living in a place without closets!).
You’ll find yourself getting quite comfortable with a gas fireplace, en suite 5-piece bath, 2 additional baths, double-hung windows and high-end blinds. But don’t get too comfortable, at least not every night. This townhouse is all about access to city living. Happy hours, the Grand Cinema, cafes, McMenamins Elks Temple, and Wright Park (one of Tacoma’s jewels) are just steps away. Look at our location section to see how easy it will be to go out, get about, and meet up with friends.

Open Living Space
Enter through the front door on 6th Avenue, or come in through the 2 car garage. No matter which way you come in, you’ll love landing in this open living space. The beauty of living in a townhome end unit, is you have windows on 3 sides for plenty of natural light. The light falls on bamboo floors while overhead exposed beams and warm stained wood bring a rustic Pacific Northwest character to the compliment the modern design.
The windows are double-hung and equipped with a hinge allowing you to tip them open to wash the exterior. They’re set with high-end Hunter Douglas blinds, but for now, enjoy the light and the view. You can watch life going by on the sidewalk below as people head up to the corner for a cup of coffee and a scone at Corina Bakery before a matinee at the Grand Cinema, or go down the block for tacos at Red Star Taco Bar (you’ll read more about all of this in our location section below).
Get comfortable and settled by the gas fireplace. It’s as easy as turning on a light, just use the switch on the wall. The solid wood mantle draws from the color and texture of the wood trim throughout the room. There’s a closet and a half bath at the top of the stairs for convenience.
This is a place for entertaining, for gathering friends before going out, a haven in the midst of the bustle of city life.
Kitchen & Dining
From the open living space, move toward the south end of the room where you’ll find the dining area and kitchen. The bar counter connects the dining space to the kitchen where a set of Samsung appliances all under 1 year old are ready and waiting. Pull a stool up to the breakfast bar for toast and coffee in the morning, use the bar for a buffet at dinnertime, set out appetizers for company, or just perch for a chat with the cook.
The warmth and texture of wooden cabinets provides a pleasing counterpart to sleek surfaces and clean lines. And there’s a walk-in pantry too. Overall, this corner kitchen is nicely arranged, provides good storage, quality cabinetry, and beautiful countertops. Get cooking!
In an open space like this, the dining area is yours to design. Experiment with table shapes, add benches, just see what you like, and use the room in the way that’s best for your lifestyle.
En Suite
Head up the floating staircase from the main living space below to reach the bedroom level. Turn left on the landing to open the door into the en suite. This private suite includes a corner bedroom, 5-piece bath, a walk-in closet, and an additional closet in the hall.
Fir plank floors cover the bedroom and windows look south and east. If you like it bright, just leave the shades up, but don’t worry, the bedrooms are set with blackout blinds for those who need darkness for sleep. The walk-in closet is fitted with shelves and dresser drawers to keep all your clothes and shoes organized and easy to find. This is also where the stackable washer and dryer live. This is a good standard set that fits all your basic laundry. However, note that the garage is plumbed for a washer and dryer, so you could opt to move laundry to the garage, or even have 2 sets.
The private en suite bath is bright and open with classic white subway tile around the shower and the separate tiled-in tub. A stone counter tops the spacious vanity with sinks and mirrors for two. Underfoot, the tile is reminiscent of a calm, cloudy sky. The wood vanity cupboard and drawers, along with wood trim keep a sense of warmth and connection to the wood detail throughout the home.
A linen closet stands at the end of the stall shower for additional storage. If you’ve ever lived in a place without sufficient closets, you’ll understand why we’re making sure to point these out. There’s really quite a bit of storage. All in all there’s a walk-in closet, a bathroom closet, and a hall closet just in the en suite, an entry hall coat closet, main floor closet, walk-in pantry, a bedroom closet, the garage itself, and even a small shed-style closet on the rooftop deck. Speaking of the deck, we have one more bedroom and bathroom to look at, then it’s time to go up there!
2nd Bedroom & 3/4 Bath
The 2nd bedroom is straight ahead at the top of the stairs. With corner windows facing north and east, as in the living space below, you can look out to the port or see people and dogs going by on the sidewalk below. Draw those dark blinds if you need to. Here again you’ll find fir floors and this room is completed by a spacious California Closet. These homeowners have chosen a Murphy bed to give this room flexibility. Depending on your needs, you could establish a corner office in here, a studio, exercise spot, or keep it as a comfortable bedroom or guest room.
A 3/4 bath is conveniently located in the hall near this bedroom. A tiled stall shower, vanity, pedestal sink, and Marmoleum floor complete the room.
Rooftop Deck
Here's what we've all been waiting for - the rooftop deck! From the bedroom level take a bright staircase up through the recently replaced tower to your own deck above the city. With views across Tacoma to Mount Rainier and plenty of space for potted plants (think tomatoes, flowers, herbs, a rooftop garden!) you'll find yourself up here all summer long.
Whether you're sunbathing, reading in the shade, hosting a cocktail party, pruning your plants, or just gazing out over the Old City Hall clocktower and the roof of McMenamins to the mountain, this rooftop deck is a dream. Turn around and you’ll see the treetops of Wright Park, which is just a 2 or 3 minute walk away whenever you need some green space.
Bring your patio furniture, add an outdoor rug, a chaise lounge, and pack the cooler; you won’t be in a hurry to go back down. Also, the deck membrane was recently replaced so we're in good shape up here.
Ground Floor Entry & 2-Car Garage
We've been to the top, so let's take look at the ground level too. Welcome to the entry of the townhome! Step onto the slate floor from the front door off of 6th Ave, or come in through the door on the left from the 2-car garage.
The covered corner entry is bright, but opaque glass keeps the indoor area private. A slate floor leads to a coat closet with storage that extends back and under the stairs. On your right when you first step inside is a lovely place for potted plants. If you’re a plant lover, feel free to bring the green inside while the Triangle Townhomes landscaping brings green life right to the door. You'll see ginkgo biloba trees, Japanese maples, ferns, and an array of shrubs, and ground cover.
If you’re driving home, enter the Triangle Townhomes private paved drive from S Baker St and pull straight into your 2-car garage. This garage is convenient and accessible; no need for 4 point turn! Spacious enough to allow for both parking and storage, it's also plumbed for laundry so you could choose to set up the washer and dryer down here rather than on the bedroom level above. When you’re ready to head out, the driveway exits onto 6th Ave.
Location - Walk, Bike, Bus, Link!
If you’re a person who likes to leave the car in the garage, a person enlivened by the energy of the city, someone who’d like to walk a block and land at a coffee shop, cinema, brewery, taco bar, or salon, you may have found your happy place.
The Triangle Townhomes are right across the street from The Grand Cinema and Corina Bakery. They stand between the Stadium District, Theater District, and Downtown. Just head up to the rooftop deck to get a sense of how this spot fits into the city. You’ll see the roof of McMenamins to the south with the Port of Tacoma beyond, turn the other way and you’ll find the treetops of Wright Park. Start from home and end up at a used book store, antique shop, art supply, mechanic, botanical conservatory, art museum, or film festival without traveling more than one single mile!
With the Link Light Rail Expansion coming in 2022 this community will be even more connected (and there are plans for a stop at Old City Hall less than half a mile away). Take a look at walking times to a list of Tacoma favorites within one mile from the door of 420 6th Ave. And read more about the Stadium District and Tacoma's Downtown on our Neighborhoods page.
