Wednesdays tend to be a bit of a downer for the working crowd and school kids too. We don't really need to explain why. You all feel it. There's that moment when you just wake up, not quite alert, that moment when you wonder, "What day is it?" You fumble about in your brain a bit, get your eyes mostly open and with an ever-so-slightly drooping mood realize, "Oh, it's Wednesday." But take heart. Do get out of bed anyway. Do eat breakfast, and have your coffee, and get to working on whatever it is you do. Then take a look around you; take a look at this list. We found 15 ways to reimagine Wednesday into a more favored day of the week.

2. Wing & Wine Wednesdays at the Crown Bar

You decide how you want to combine all these offerings.
6. Open Mic at the Tacoma Comedy Club
933 Market St, doors at 7 pm, show at 8 pm
For a different sort of open mic, one in which the audience is serenaded by hilarity and laugher rather than song, go to the Tacoma Comedy Club every Wednesday. It's a free show. Should we have mentioned that sooner? Image from @tacomacomedyclub
7. 1st Wednesdays Blues at The Spar
2121 N 30th St, 7 - 9 pm

9. Knitting Club at the GRLS Studio
728 Pacific Ave, 7 - 9 pm (once a month)
If you knit, or crochet, or you like to sit and embroider, bring your fibers, your pattern (or the one your keep in your head for you daring, create-your-own-sweater types), and your friendliness. This knitting club meets once a month and the week can shift a bit, so it's best to keep an eye on the schedule at the GRLS Studio events page. You don't need to be an expert!
Recess Time!
10. Ladies' Night at Tower Lanes
6323 6th Ave, 9 pm - 12 am
Ladies bowl free with the purchase of a game of equal value. So, women bring in your brother or boyfriend, or your sister, or girlfriend, or mom and it works out to half price for each of you, as long as there's one lady involved, I guess. Pay for your shoes, and you're on your way to some cheap bowling on Tacoma's West Side.
11. All You Can Bowl at Chalet Bowl
3806 N 26th, 9 - 11 pm
All you can bowl from 9-11 pm for $6.50 including the shoe rental. Bowl fast, bowl slow, the lane is yours until you surrender. If you're not a night person, check out the Lunch and Bowl from noon to 2 instead. Order from the lunch menu and bowl for $2/game. This includes shoe rental and a small soda. Mid-day or late-night, Chalet has you covered.
12. Cheap Skate at Rollin' 253
2101 W Mildred St, 6 - 8 pm
Bring the whole family, skate alone, make it a blind date (it's really up to you). No matter how many you bring, it's $5 per person and that includes your rental of a nice old-fashioned pair of quad skates on which you may glide, or stumble, or spin around the rink at Rollin' 253 Skate & Community Center.
Wells & Pints
13. One-Off Wednesday at Narrows Brewing
9007 S 19th St, 4 - 8:30 pm
Every Wednesday step into the beautiful Narrows Brewing Taproom (and if you're lucky with the weather, out onto their waterfront/marinafront deck) to experience a new beer each week. It's not likely you're worn out on the rest of their inventory (usually over a dozen on tap), but it's still exciting to see what that next brew will be!
14. Service Night Wednesday at The Copper Door
12 N Tacoma Ave, 11 am - 11 pm
In a nod to "those who serve and those who served" this Stadium District tap room and bottle shop (where food is also served) offers 20% off everything from open to close for those who have a military ID or Food Handlers/M.A.S.T card. Thanks guys!
15. Well Wednesdays at the Top of Tacoma
3529 E McKinley Ave, 7 pm - 2 am
There's something special about the Top everyday. On Wednesdays, it's $2 wells after 7 pm, and $3 Well Red Bull Bombs (yikes?). Mostly, we just love their food, and what it feels like to sit in there. Plus, there were 4 brandied cherries in my last Old Fashioned - sweet (not a well drink, just a nice memory...).
In Closing
If you want it, we hope you find your way toward some Wednesday fun in your Tacoma future. Roll around a rink, see a film, knit and chat to your heart's content, achieve your strike or gutter ball, sign up for an open mic, you get the idea. That's it for this week; see you around!
